This is a very good original example with a decent blade, excellent markings, and an excellent grip wrap with fine original scabbard and period correct leather sword knot and hangers. Saber is marked on the ricasso “COLLINS & CO HARTFORD CONN 1862." The scabbard is correct for the saber and fits perfectly, however there are no discernible inspector marks. Saber retains its original protective scalloped leather washer at the base of the blade PROVENANCE: Dr. Frank Wagner cavalry museum collection. CONDITION: Blade is straight with no bends or nicks, but is stained dark overall. Grip retains all of its original leather and wire wrap and is excellent. Brass hilt and pommel are also excellent and show a very pleasing mellow dark gold patina. Scabbard is mostly bright with small patches of mossing overall. Scabbard is very sound and solid with with only one small dent towards the bottom on one side.

Condition: (Very Good).
