This 1890's Imperial Russian officer's cavalry saber was presented to General Nelson Miles, well known Indian fighter on his visit to Russia in 1897 to observe military maneuvers. Blade has a triple fuller with acid etched Imperial crests just above the ricasso on either side. Left side of ricasso is stamped with the knight's head maker mark of Weyersberg, Kirschbaum and Solingen. Right side of ricasso is marked "F. FICHTE SOLINGEN." Scabbard is fine Moroccan leather over wood with all brass fittings. PROVENANCE: Saber had passed through family descent to the great-grandson of General Miles, Sherman Miles II. He donated it to the Family History Foundation in Bryan, Texas in 1982. The saber was subsequently de-accessioned and obtained by Dr. Frank Wagner for his cavalry museum in New Orleans. Original notarized letter from 1982 is present and will be included with the saber. CONDITION: Excellent overall. Blade is mirror bright with original factory edge with no nicks, pitting, or rust. Brass hilt and guard show wonderful dark gold un-cleaned patina to the brass and crest of Tsar Nicholas the II near the pommel.

Condition: (Excellent).
