Lot consists of: (A) Very solid example of the last pattern of forage cap adopted for the US Army. Worn by officers during the Spanish-American War and Philippine Insurrection, Boxer Rebellion period. Hat has a blue wool body with a black mohair cap band, and a nicely embroidered officers pattern gold and silver bullion eagle, stitched to the body of the hat. Retains original and finely twisted gold bullion chin cords secured by two small staff and field buttons. CONDITION: Black tarred leather visor is missing edge binding. Intact dark brown leather sweatband is securely stitched in place, with remnants of a tag showing size 6-3/4. Retains black silk lining to crown with silver inked maker's stamp: "HENDERSON AMES. CO. KALAMAZOO MICH." Hat is very clean, not crushed or broken, and exhibits no moth damage. (B) M1895 enlisted cavalry forage cap with original gold gilt 1896 pattern G Co., 8th Cavalry Regiment insignia. CONDITION: Hat is very clean with a tarred leather visor and black silk lining. Only one tiny moth nip visible. Made by B.Y. PIPPEY CO. NEW YORK maker, 1899. (C) M1902 Medical Corps dress visor hat with Maltese cross insignia. All original with tarred leather visor and black leather chinstrap. Maker stamped to crown in gold ink: "RIDABOCK & COMPANY. " CONDITION: Very Good. PROVENANCE: Dr. Frank Wagner cavalry museum collection.

Condition: (Very Good).
