Included is a complete dance card, envelope and invite to: GARRISON ASSEMBLIES, FORT LEAVENWORTH, KANSAS. WINTER SEASON, 1867-68. This is a rare piece of Custer related ephemera that has wonderful character as Custer signed his initials for the first and last dance. As was the custom at the time, gentlemen would write their name or initials in numeric order in order to reserve dance time with a lady. Custer made sure in this instance that Libby saved the last dance for him! Dance card the has pencil signed "wait list" that also includes Colonel Phil Sheridan, Custer's commanding officer at that time. Extremely rare piece of Custer related ephemera that is most likely the only one in existence. Also included is a leather embossed signature of Custer from an unknown origin. CONDITION: Excellent overall. PROVENANCE: Dr. Frank Wagner cavalry museum collection.
