One-of-a-kind, personal copy of the regulation book that belonged to Gen. Custer when he was a cadet at West Point. Custer's personal pencil inscription on page after intro reads "From G.A. Custer. West Point - N.Y. July 20th '59" along with a period calling card slid into a cut into the page. We have seen one or two examples of Civil War period calling cards from Custer, but have never seen another West Point era calling card offered, and book was Custer's (most likely) only issued copy. CONDITION: Book was professionally and archival bound in protective leather binding with custom box decades ago. Only foxing noted is approximately 1/4" band around the title page, otherwise pages are clean. Included is original sales receipt from rare book dealer to consignor. PROVENANCE: William Reese Company-Rare Books and Manuscripts, Dr. Frank Wagner cavalry museum collection. CORRECTION: Photos added
Condition: (Very Good).
Item Dimensions: (7.75" H x 5" W).
