Estimated quantity less than 7,000 made from 1848-59. Features brass bands, trigger guard, and buttplate while balance of metal finished in the white, walnut stocks with swivel attached ramrod and a 9" bar on left side with ring. Upper tang is dated 1850. "VP" proofs stamped on left side of barrel. Lock is dated 1853 and stamped Springfield with eagle. Buttplate stamped "US". CONDITION: All metal surfaces have been cleaned and polished and the stock was refinished to near mint condition. Fine near mint bore. Very handsome carbine.
