Built under US contract by Providence Tool Co., it is basically a standard US Civil War issue rifle. Features all metal in the white, three barrel bands, lockplate dated 1864 with Springfield eagle and Providence stamps, post front sight, two leaf rear sight, sling swivels, and full length walnut stock with no visible cartouche. CONDITION: All metal surfaces have soft dull grey. Front band is replaced. There is some pitting on tang and lockplate stamps are light. Wood has usual bumps and was sanded. Clean, non-rifled, nor verified barrel and bore. Comes with period cleaning rod. If you are looking for clean contract battle bruised Civil War rifle to display, this is it.
