In original wooden case, brass and painted steel body, bakelite handle. Includes two scopes , one marked "DAY", one marked "NIGHT", both with black rubber eye cup on ends. Sextant marked “ BALL RECORDING SEXTANT / MARK I MOD O / U.S. NAVY BuSHIPS / 3549 1944”. Wooden case has form-fitting interior pieces to hold sextant in place during storage, brass fittings. Interior lid has a U.S. Naval Observatory paper label dated 1944 and front with a brass plate repeating sextant markings and with matching serial number. Sextant is in excellent condition, case has been refinished.
