Lot consists of: (A) World War I German Kugel Grenade, known as the Kugelhandgranate 1913. Among the earliest of the German World War I designs, the 1913 Model has the two central horizontal fragmentation grooves. This is a nice example, in excellent condition with the fuze complete. (B) An undocumented but well-known early version of the World War I German Kugel grenade, here is an example sometimes described as the orange peel style. The pull-fuze is in excellent physical condition, but has no pull wire. The grenade has about 80% paint, but it is unknown if it is original or not. This grenade is difficult to find and one of the most desirable of the Kugels, in excellent condition. (C) This is an example of the 1915 Model World War I German Kugel grenade. The small rounded cross section on the bottom of the grenade has been ground flat, apparently so that it would set well on a display shelf. The grenade is otherwise in good condition with very little surface corrosion. The pull friction fuze is present but without the pull wire.
