Lot consists of: (A) Highly sought after by US collectors, this is the US World War I MKI Defensive fragmentation grenade. Described as a copy of the French F1 body with a unique and ill-fated US fuze design, it was the predecessor of the long running MKII. With light surface rust on the spoon and cap, it is in fine condition and the soft lead fuze is undamaged. It has the foundry mark of “N” and is a very good example of a hard to find grenade. (B) Another standard for every serious grenade collector is the World War I German Model 1917 Eierhandgranates (egg grenade). This is a typical example, the body in fine condition with about 50% of the original paint and a variation of the original pull friction fuze, complete with cap.
