One of the previous owner’s personal recoveries from the World War II India/Burma theaters during World War II, this is a very rare improvised Japanese hand/rifle grenade. A short, hourglass shaped cylinder with external fragmentation, it is documented in the British “Japanese Ammunition Leaflets” compiled and printed at Kirkee, India in 1945, it is also featured in the book “Imperial Japanese Grenade Rifles and Launchers” by Babich/Keep. In fine condition, it has about half of the original time fuse left, and the body is in excellent shape with no corrosion.
