Possibly American. Tapered straight double-edged blade with partial fuller in center on each side of convex-faced blade. Both sides marked with stamped running fox and one side with a white museum or collector number. Brass hilt with clam shell guard and round pommel with integral round capstan. Wooden grip which was one wrapped with leather, still traces present beneath brass ferrules at top and bottom. CONDITION: Blade retains a grey patina with some darker spotting and minor pitting. Hilt retains an unpolished patina with some scattered marks and one ring with a minor bend. Wood grip shows wear and some scattered marks. A nice pre-Revolutionary War officer's small sword.
