This large horn measures 19-1/2" overall with a large wooden plug with an iron staple for sling attachment. Relief conical spout wrapped with string to reinforce period cracking. Top section faceted, transitioning into rounded section. The horn is inscribed "JOHN. BLACK / WOOD" and "Born 1731" in large letters in a panel. The horn also is decorated with a large two masted ship with a visible anchor at the bow, as well as two smaller vessels. CONDITION: The horn retains an uncleaned yellow patina showing significant carry wear and a few scattered scratches. Some separation at butt and some minor cracking and chipping due to age. A nice and attractive large horn.
