Lot consists of (A) Document signed by James Wilson, one of the Founding Fathers and signer of both the Constitution and Declaration of Independence, settling a debt owed by a Christopher Montz to a John Harris "by reason of not performing a certain promise and assumption made to the said John Harris". While dated 7th April 1776, this warrant is still using the King's format. Signed by John Agnew on the front, reverse is a receipt breaking down payments owed to various parties and signed by Wilson. CONDITION: Good, folded in half at point point in its life and separated but still legible. Two halves now sealed in plexiglass case. Edges of paper stained and some toning. Signature is good and legible. (B) is a document for the sale of 40 acres and other property in Northampton County in June 1768. Appears to be sold to Samuel Beitchole and signed by Edmund Chysick. Rear has what appears to be a receipt. CONDITION: Fair. Paper was folded into quarters at one point, which left creasing that renders some words difficult to read. There are a few holes in the left half of the paper, obliterating parts of the date. Some light toning and ink bleeding. One spot of water damage. Still legible. Document in a Mylar sleeve with styrofoam backing. A historical lot for any aficionado of early American history or Pennsylvania history.
LOT OF 2: TWO 18TH CENTURY DOCUMENTS, ONE SIGNED BY JAMES WILSON, AND THE OTHER A DEED OF SALE.
