This sword is a solid example of a Confederate cavalry saber from an unknown maker. Classic unstopped fuller. Single strand copper wire grip over original leather. 1840 pattern US scabbard. CONDITION: Blade is a dark chocolate color with moderate pitting. The tip may have been lightly reshaped during the period of use. Wire and wrap are original to this sword, leather having been worn through in areas exposing the wood grip. Brass guard and pommel retain a pleasing dark patina. Scabbard retains a pleasing patina with light pitting. GR
