32" broad blade appears to be second quarter of the 18th century. The attractive sword with well forged basket pierced with shields and characteristic holes. The broad backsword blade with two small fullers on each side nearly 1 - 1/2" across with cabalistic punch marks in fullers on right side. Hemispherical pommel, fish skin grip wrapped with three strands of twisted copper wire. CONDITION: Blade is polished with no real significant pitting. Guard has been polished over old pitting and shows one period brazen repair to one branch. Pommel shows great age and is polished over pitting. Grip is in excellent condition and is copper wire wrap. Sword retains what appears to be its original buff leather liner. A particularly good example of a Scottish backsword and most attractive.
