Attributed Waffen SS officer visor cap made in a fine quality doeskin Feldgrau wool with light aging and no visible damage, and a black velvet center band. Appears to be a private purchase example. The white piping is intact with some minor discoloration. The visor skull and eagle are old reproductions, perhaps dating from the 1980s. The black vulkanfibre visor presents some very light wear and almost indistinguishable crazing, with the underside in a field-gray crosshatch pattern. The officer bullion chincord is attached and undamaged. The interior is fully lined in a light golden-brown rayon with light to moderate wear and staining throughout. The sweat shield is missing and the maker is lightly visible and appears to be "Spezialhaus" on the first line, with the remainder illegible. The dark brown leather sweatband is cracked through in one area on the right side, but is otherwise completely intact, with uniform aging and light wear. Two aluminum tags with the intital "K" and "E" are attached to the sweatband on the left side. The consignor has provided a hand written note dated "July 20, 1986" which states the visor cap is from the family of "Karl Heinze Euling", and who was in the 1st Waffen SS Panzer Grenadier Regiment. Euling was a Hauptsturmfuhrer who won the Knight's Cross and passed away on April 14, 2014. His background is easily researchable. CONDITION: Visor insignia are older reproductions. Morphy Auctions will not guarantee their authenticity. Wool, visor, and chincord are excellent. Sweatband and lining are very good. Overall very good to excellent.
