The Colt letter states that this revolver was shipped to the US Government on September 18th, 1878 in a shipment of 150 revolvers for Army issue. This revolver has matching numbers on barrel, frame, trigger guard, and backstrap. Cylinder not numbered and probable replacement. CONDITION: There is some damage under side of barrel retaining hole for housing and had to drop some cement in as the attaching screw would not stay in. Ejector head is replaced original type as are frame screws. When they restored this piece, they feathered out the serial numbers and inspector stamps. Frame stamps are sharp. Grips are refinished and slightly shy. Barrel address is mostly visible. The applied blue and case colors have correct Colt look and retain most of this refinish. Action and bore are fine. CORRECTION: Description amended - last sentence removed.
