This splendid sword has an exuberant choji-midare hamon with kobayaki spots above each wave and executed in excellent nia and nioi. Hada is mokume with jinie scattered throughout. Ubu nakago with full signature in virtually pristine condition. Sugikai yasurimei. Although Kunitsune is a chusaku listed maker in Fujishiro in page 234 the sword is more of a Jo-saku katana with one of the finest temper lines we have seen in a long time. CONDITION: Sword is in nice full polish with slight looseness and shinogi. Form of sword is excellent. Contained in a beautiful old honoki wood shirasaya of the best quality. Silver foil wrapped habaki. Sword basically needs nothing done to it except to be cherished as one of the better Shinto katanas extant.
