Very attractive early 1900's Eley Cartridge Board. Constructed of English Oak measuring 31" tall by 25 - 1/2" wide. Marked in black letters "ELEY" at top of frame, and "CARTRIDGES" along the bottom. Left side marked "SPORTING" right side marked "MILITARY". Board features approximately 74 metallic rifle and pistol cartridges, 37 shotshells, a variety of shotshell wads, and four percussion cap tins, neatly arranged around the Eley logo and monogram. Shotshells are marked with a variety of Eley colorful proprietary names such as "ROCKET", "PLUTO", "COMET", VULCAN", "MARS", "ELOID", "ZENITH", "AQUOID", ACHILLES", "AMBERLITE", "ECAR", etc. Four of the shotshells have cut-away windows revealing the construction and content of the load. CONDITION: Excellent with no signs of restoration. Wood has a lovely unrestored patina. All contents are intact showing good color and are securely attached to the board. Overall a very attractive and desirable cartridge board. PROVENANCE: From the collection of Nathan Posner, former owner of the San Francisco Gun Exchange and most recently on display at the Buffalo Bill Historical Museum of Cody, Wyoming. -MKS-
