(A) Full tang dirk knife with dark horn scales, mother of pearl pommel pieces, and three inlaid mother of pearl discs on the obverse. Double edged blade stamped HENRY HOBSON & SON, fully etched with an eagle, scrollwork, and "Self Protector". Original pasteboard sheath with nickel silver throat, the body having been overlaid with snakeskin. This Sheffield firm with its well known surname operated as "& Son" in the second half of the 19th century. CONDITION: Unsharpened with light tarnish overall. Blade 4-3/4", Overall 8-7/8". (B) Unmarked English dirk knife, one piece black horn handle decorated with inlaid mother of pearl and twisted nickel silver wire. Double edged flamberge or kris blade fully etched with scrollwork and the words "Never Draw Me Without Reason Nor Sheath Me Without Honour". Leather sheath with nickel silver tip and throat. c. second half of the 19th century. CONDITION: Blade in antique mint condition, with crack on the reverse of handle. Blade 5-3/4", Overall 9-3/4" (C) Cutlery handled dirk knife with foliate nickel silver handle. Double edged blade stamped HANCOCK & SONS, 5 CORN HILL SHEFFIELD. Heavy silver plated sheath with swivel belt hanger. Several different Hancocks were active in the American trade; this knife dates c.1850s-1870s. CONDITION: Very good overall, blade with moderate wear, cleaned. Sheath a replacement. Blade 5", overall 9-5/8".
