Full tang with coffin shaped handle featuring beautifully textured stag scales; tarnished nickel silver guard, escutcheon and pommels, which feature a reclining lion in relief. Clip point blade with sharpened false edge, stamped G WOODHEAD 36 HOWARD ST. SHEFFIELD. Leather sheath with nickel silver tip and throat. Circa 1850s; George Woodhead ventured into business on his own in about 1849, and remained at this address until after the business name became G. Woodhead & Son in 1876. CONDITION: Blade has not been sharpened much, but has been lightly cleaned with scattered areas of spotting, and a few tiny nicks towards tip. Sheath likely a period replacement.
