Lot consists of: (A) Large fighter with its original double edge, "Ron Gaston" over "Woodruff, SC" signature etch, hand rubbed finish on blade and bolsters, tapered full tang, dovetailed and pinned dyed burlwood handles with red liners. No sheath. CONDITION: An unused knife, with very light, tiny dinks on the top spine of the blade. There are some scratches/scuffs on the mark and reverse side bolsters, as well as multiple large cracks on the reverse scale due to moderate shrinkage of the handles. (B) Extra large fighter with its original double edge, "Ron Gaston" over "Woodruff, SC" signature etch, hand rubbed finish on blade, finely engraved bolsters with a tapered full tang. The dovetailed and mosaic pinned exotic wood handles, with red liners, complete the package. No sheath. CONDITION: An unused knife with a few light dinks on the top edge, a couple light dinks on the main edge, two scratches on the mark side scale with some small checks/tiny cracks evident. There is a large crack on the reverse side scale (possibly repaired) due to slight shrinkage of the handles. (C) A second extra large fighter, this knife features its original double edge, hand rubbed finish on the blade, with his classic "Ron Gaston" over "Woodruff, SC" signature etch. The knife is completed with beautifully engraved bolsters, a tapered full tang, dovetailed and pinned exotic wood handles with red liners. No sheath. CONDITION: An unused knife, the wood handles are very dry and have slightly shrunk, showing the beginnings of checks and tiny cracks throughout. (D) The third extra large fighter sports its original double edge, hand rubbed finish on the blade and bolsters and "Ron Gaston" over "Woodruff, SC" signature etch on the blade. The tapered full tang is enhanced by dovetailed and pinned exotic wood handles with red liners. No sheath. CONDITION: While the knife is unused, there are rust spots and light pitting, and the blade is missing its very tip. Also evident are scratches on the mark side bolster. Due to moderate shrinkage of the handles, there is one pin crack on the mark side scale, and one large crack on the reverse side scale (cracks are stemming from the same handle pin). Ron Gaston of Woodruff, South Carolina was a knifemaker for close to 25 years when he passed away in 2006. A dairy farmer by trade, Mr. Gaston became an extremely prolific maker and was featured within many cutlery publications at the height of his career. A proud member of the Knifemakers' Guild, his knives are very well established and continue to be collected around the world.
