Lot consists of: (A) A very impressive double edge dagger that displays its original edges and "R. Gaston" over "Woodruff, SC" over "R. Easler" etch. Crafted of 1/8" stock steel with a full length tapered tang, the hand rubbed finish on the blade and bolsters is complimented by dovetailed and mosaic pinned dyed burlwood handles. No sheath. CONDITION: An unused knife, the scales exhibit moderate shrinkage, resulting in pin cracks from the mark side upper pin. (B) A second double edge dagger that displays its original edges and "R. Gaston" over "Woodruff, SC" over "R. Easler" etch. Crafted of 1/8" stock steel with a full length tapered tang, the hand rubbed finish on the blade and bolsters is complimented by dovetailed and pinned ivory handles. No sheath. CONDITION: An unused knife, the scales exhibit moderate shrinkage, with large pin cracks along both pins on the mark side, as well as a single crack on the reverse side. Ron Gaston of Woodruff, South Carolina and Russell O. Easler Jr. of Woodruff, South Carolina. When Mr. Gaston fell ill in his later life, his good friend and fellow knifemaker, Mr. Easler, stepped in and helped complete a number of Mr. Gaston's knives. Thus the markings found on this particular knife. (C) A very slender double edge dagger with its original edges, hand rubbed finish on blade and bolsters, and etched simply with "R.O. Easler". The slightly tapered full tang displays a beautiful set of dovetailed and mosaic pinned bone handles. No sheath. CONDITION: An unused knife, the knife has been handled resulting in some very light dinks on one edge, some light scratches on the mark side bolster, and some very light marks on the front and rear bolsters. The handles have shrunk moderately, resulting in tight pin cracks on the mark side, with a large and then second smaller crack on the reverse side. Russell O. Easler Jr., of Woodruff, South Carolina was a knifemaker for close to 35 years when he passed away in 2008. A member of the Knifemakers' Guild and a true gentleman, Mr. Easler's knives are known and collected worldwide.
