Lot consists of: (A) An exquisite drop point hunter, this knife displays its original edge, mirror polished blade and elegant "Ron Gaston" over "Handcrafted" over "Woodruff, SC" etch. The tapered tang is enhanced by engraved bolsters (marked HL), lined with pinned and dovetailed dark hardwood scales. No sheath. CONDITION: An unused knife, there are a few scratches on the mark side handle, with some light cracking at a knot on the reverse scale, due to minimal shrinkage of the wood handles. (B) A matching second drop point hunter, this knife displays its original edge, hand rubbed finish on blade and bolsters, and elegant "Ron Gaston" over "Handcrafted" over "Woodruff, SC" etch. The tapered full tang is complemented by pinned and dovetailed cocobolo scales. No sheath. CONDITION: An unused knife, there are two pin cracks on the mark side scale, along with three pin cracks on the reverse scale, due to moderate shrinkage of the wood handles. Ron Gaston of Woodruff, South Carolina was a knifemaker for close to 25 years when he passed away in 2006. A dairy farmer by trade, Mr. Gaston became an extremely prolific maker and was featured within many cutlery publications at the height of his career. A proud member of the Knifemakers' Guild, his knives are very well established and continue to be collected around the world. (C) A lovely hunting/utility knife that features its original edge, hand rubbed finish on the blade and bolsters, and "R. Gaston" over "Woodruff, SC" over "R. Easler" etch. The handles are dovetailed tiger maple scales secured with mosaic pins. No sheath. CONDITION: The knife presents as-new with one scratch on the reverse scale, and minimal shrinkage of the handles. Ron Gaston of Woodruff, South Carolina and Russell O. Easler Jr. of Woodruff, South Carolina. When Mr. Gaston fell ill in his later life, his good friend and fellow knifemaker, Mr. Easler, stepped in and helped complete a number of Mr. Gaston's knives. Thus the markings found on this particular knife.
