Lot consists of: (A) A very unique upswept dropped point skinner, the knife features its original edge, "Ron Gaston" over "Woodruff, SC" signature etch, and hand rubbed finish on the blade and bolsters. The tapered, straight-back and full tang sports dovetailed and pinned bright burlwood handles with red liners. No sheath. CONDITION: As new, the handles have shrunk slightly on the knife. (B) A beautiful dropped point hunter with its original edge, "Ron Gaston" over "Woodruff, SC" signature etch, and hand rubbed finish on the blade and bolsters. The tapered full length tang features dovetailed ivory handles with lovely coloring, red liners and mosaic pins. No sheath. CONDITION: An unused knife, the ivory has shrunk slightly revealing a crack on the mark side, from the bolster to the upper pin. The reverse side reveals a lower pin crack in the ivory as well. (C) The third knife is a dropped point hunter with its original edge, a pronounced swedge, "Ron Gaston" over "Woodruff, SC" signature etch, and hand rubbed finish on the blade and bolsters. The beautifully tapered, full length tang features dovetailed burlwood handles, red liners and mosaic pins. No sheath. CONDITION: The knife is unused, but there is moderate shrinkage of the handles, resulting in cracks at three of the four pins. Scales are also pulling away from liners at the handle tail. Ron Gaston of Woodruff, South Carolina was a knifemaker for close to 25 years when he passed away in 2006. A dairy farmer by trade, Mr. Gaston became an extremely prolific maker and was featured within many cutlery publications at the height of his career. A proud member of the Knifemakers' Guild, his knives are very well established and continue to be collected around the world.
