Lot consists of: (A) A unique and seldom seen slipjoint folder, featuring a skinner-shaped blade with hand rubbed finish, etched in his signature "Ron Gaston" over "Woodruff, SC" marking. The blade has its original edge, and the action is clean with a solid walk and talk, half stop, and the blade is centered when closed. The knife is finished inside and out, displaying pink agate scales flanked by heavily engraved bolsters. CONDITION: The knife is unused. There is some light spotting on the spine of the blade and backspring, with a very tight crack in the agate across the reverse side scale. 3-1/2" closed. (B) A very attractive drop point hunter, this smaller sized knife displays its original edge, the "Ron Gaston" over "Woodruff, SC" signature etch, and a hand rubbed finish on the blade and bolsters. The handles consist of dovetailed and pinned reddish-dyed jigged bone with red liners. No sheath. CONDITION: The handles show slight shrinkage, resulting in a pin crack on the mark side scale. (C) This medium sized drop point hunter features its original edge, "Ron Gaston" over "Woodruff, SC" signature etch and a hand rubbed blade and bolsters. The tapered full tang highlights dovetailed, light burlwood scales secured with mosaic pins and red liners. No sheath. CONDITION: The handles show slight shrinkage, resulting in a pin crack on the reverse side scale. Ron Gaston of Woodruff, South Carolina was a knifemaker for close to 25 years when he passed away in 2006. A dairy farmer by trade, Mr. Gaston became an extremely prolific maker and was featured within many cutlery publications at the height of his career. A proud member of the Knifemakers' Guild, his knives are very well established and continue to be collected around the world.
