Lot consists of: (A) A beautifully designed medium sized fighter, knife displays its original double edge, "Ron Gaston" over "Woodruff, SC" signature etch and hand rubbed finish on the blade and bolsters. The tapered full tang is surrounded by dovetailed and mosaic pinned mammoth ivory handles with red liners, set into a two finger groove grip. An excellent knife. No sheath. CONDITION: Knife is unused. There is a small dink on the top edge of the knife, some light handling marks on the bolsters, and minimal shrinkage of the ivory. (B) A larger sized fighter with a more upswept blade, this knife shows its original double edge, block-lettered "Ron Gaston" etch set in an arch, and hand rubbed finish on both blade and bolsters. The tapered full tang, dovetailed and pinned ivory handles with red liners feature a straight grip with "clipped" corners at the butt. Another excellent knife. No sheath. CONDITION: An unused knife with a few handling marks/scuffs on the mark side bolster, along with minimal shrinkage of the ivory. Ron Gaston of Woodruff, South Carolina was a knifemaker for close to 25 years when he passed away in 2006. A dairy farmer by trade, Mr. Gaston became an extremely prolific maker and was featured within many cutlery publications at the height of his career. A proud member of the Knifemakers' Guild, his knives are very well established and continue to be collected around the world.
