Lot consists of: (A) A unique boot knife with its original double edge, the 3/16" stock creates a heavy and solid knife. The hand rubbed finish on the blade and bolsters is etched with a block-lettered "Gaston" in an arch. The tapered full tang features dovetailed and pinned burgundy micarta handles. No sheath. CONDITION: The knife is unused, with a couple light handling marks/scuffs on the mark side bolster, with minimal shrinkage of the micarta scales. (B) A large double edge dagger with its original sharpened edges, the 3/16" stock creates a heavy and solid piece. The hand rubbed finish on the blade and bolsters is etched with the makers mark. The tapered full tang features dovetailed and pinned bone handles. No sheath. CONDITION: An unused knife, there are a few very light handling marks on the reverse side bolster. Due to moderate shrinking of the scales, there is a large, full length crack on the mark side and one pin crack on the reverse side. Ron Gaston of Woodruff, South Carolina was a knifemaker for close to 25 years when he passed away in 2006. A dairy farmer by trade, Mr. Gaston became an extremely prolific maker and was featured within many cutlery publications at the height of his career. A proud member of the Knifemakers' Guild, his knives are very well established and continue to be collected around the world.
