Lot consists of: (A) A unique trio of fighters, this medium sized knife displays its original double edge, "Ron Gaston" over "Woodruff, SC" signature etch and hand rubbed finish on the blade and bolsters. The tapered full tang is enhanced with dovetailed and mosaic pinned burlwood handles with red liners. No sheath. CONDITION: As new with minimal shrinkage of the wood handles. (B) The second of this group is a large fighter with its original double edge, "Ron Gaston" over "Woodruff, SC" signature etch and hand rubbed finish on the blade and bolsters. The tapered full tang is highlighted with dovetailed and highly figured burlwood handles, held in place with mosaic pins and red liners. No sheath. CONDITION: As new with slight shrinkage of the handles, as well as a few very light scuffs/scratches on the bolsters. (C) The third of this group is a large fighter with its original double edge, "Ron Gaston" over "Woodruff, SC" signature etch and hand rubbed finish on the blade and bolsters. The tapered full tang is beautifully surrounded by dovetailed and pinned gnarly Sambar India stag with red liners. No sheath. CONDITION: An unused knife, the blade does show several light dinks on the upper edge, with one dink on the main edge. There are a few very light handling marks/scuffs on the bolsters, and the stag handles show moderate shrinkage. Ron Gaston of Woodruff, South Carolina was a knifemaker for close to 25 years when he passed away in 2006. A dairy farmer by trade, Mr. Gaston became an extremely prolific maker and was featured within many cutlery publications at the height of his career. A proud member of the Knifemakers' Guild, his knives are very well established and continue to be collected around the world.
