Lot consists of: (A) A beautiful example of a large fighter with twin sharpened and original edges, a block letter "Montjoy" etch, hand rubbed finish on the blade and bolsters, a fileworked and tapered full tang, complimented with dovetailed ivory handles and red liners. No sheath. CONDITION: Unused, the knife does show a small scrape at the tip of the reverse side, as well as a few handling marks on the bolsters. The handles show a few fine edge cracks and slight shrinkage. (B) A medium sized fighter with twin sharpened and original edges and a block letter "Montjoy" etch. The hand rubbed finish on the blade and bolsters is complemented by a fileworked and tapered full tang. The dovetailed ivory handles with red liners are secured with mosaic pins. No sheath. CONDITION: The knife is unused, with minor tarnishing on the bolsters and one fine pin crack due to slight handle shrinkage (C) Another medium sized fighter, with twin sharpened and original edges and a block letter "Montjoy" etch. The hand rubbed finish on the blade and bolsters is complemented by a fileworked and tapered full tang. The dovetailed dyed bone handles with red liners are secured with mosaic pins. No sheath. CONDITION: Unused with slight tarnishing on bolsters, the handles demonstrate some shrinkage, two small scuffs and a bit of separation from the liners at butt end of the knife on the makers' mark side. Claude Montjoy of Clinton, SC was a knifemaker for almost 30 years when he passed away in 2011 at the age of 74. A member of the South Carolina Association of Knifemakers, Mr. Montjoy was highly skilled in his craft, creating a large variety of styles and types including slipjoints, interframes, hunters and fighters.
