Lot consists of: (A) Large fighting knife with both edges sharpened (and original to the knife), block-lettered "Montjoy" etch and a hand rubbed finish on the blade and bolsters. The full tapered tang features a drop-shaped grip with dovetailed ivory handles and red liners. No sheath. CONDITION: An unused knife, there are a few specks on the blade, along with slight shrinkage of the handles, showing two visible edge cracks. (B) A medium sized fighter with both edges sharpened (and original to the knife), block-lettered "Montjoy" etch and a hand rubbed finish on the blade and bolsters. The fileworked and full tapered tang features a dropped grip with dovetailed ivory handles and red liners. No sheath. CONDITION: The knife presents as new, with minimal shrinkage of the ivory handles, along with some small scratches on mark side front bolster. (C) A drop point hunter completes this trio, with its original edge, hand rubbed finish on the blade and bolsters and stylized "Montjoy" etch. The fileworked and full tapered tang features a drop shaped grip with dovetailed ivory handles and red liners. No sheath. CONDITION: The knife presents as new, with minimal shrinkage of the ivory handles, along with some light handling marks on the reverse side front bolster. Claude Montjoy of Clinton, South Carolina was a knifemaker for almost 30 years when he passed away in 2011 at the age of 74. A member of the South Carolina Association of Knifemakers, Mr. Montjoy was highly skilled in his craft, creating a large variety of styles and types including slipjoints, interframes, hunters and fighters.
