Lot consists of: (A) The first of three matching knives, this narrow-bladed trailing point skinner shows its original edge, stylized "Montjoy" etch and hand rubbed finish on the blade and bolsters. The fileworked full tapered tang, features a two-finger grip, green-dyed burlwood handle scales secured with mosaic pins and red liners. No sheath. CONDITION: The very tip of the blade appears to be resharpened, with a scuff on the mark side bolster. The handles demonstrate some very slight shrinkage. (B) The second of three matching knives, this narrow-bladed trailing point skinner shows its original edge, stylized "Montjoy" etch and hand rubbed finish on the blade and bolsters. The fileworked full tapered tang, features a two-finger grip, green-dyed burlwood handle scales secured with mosaic pins and red liners. No sheath. CONDITION: The knife presents as unused, with a scuff on the mark side bolster and wood handle, along with some very slight shrinkage of the burlwood handles. (C) The third of three matching knives, this narrow-bladed trailing point skinner shows its original edge, stylized "Montjoy" etch and hand rubbed finish on the blade and bolsters. The fileworked full tapered tang, features a two-finger grip, green-dyed burlwood handle scales secured with mosaic pins and red liners. No sheath. CONDITION: The knife is unused, with a scuff present on the mark side bolster and wood handle, along with some slight shrinkage of the burlwood handles. Claude Montjoy of Clinton, South Carolina was a knifemaker for almost 30 years when he passed away in 2011 at the age of 74. A member of the South Carolina Association of Knifemakers, Mr. Montjoy was highly skilled in his craft, creating a large variety of styles and types including slipjoints, interframes, hunters and fighters.
