Lot consists of: (A) Medium sized fighter with main and upper edges sharpened and original to the knife. Blade is etched "Montjoy" in block letters. The knife features a tapered full tang, hand rubbed finish on the blade and bolsters, complemented by pinned, burled wood handles and red liners. No sheath. CONDITION: An unused knife, the handle shows light cracking/checking from age. (B) An elegant dagger with twin sharpened and original edges, with a stylized "Montjoy" etch. The hand rubbed finish on the blade and bolsters are complemented with full perimeter filework. The full tapered tang is lined with dovetailed, white Mother of Pearl handles secured with mosaic pins. No sheath. CONDITION: An as-new knife with just a few spots on the blade that should clean off easily. Claude Montjoy of Clinton, South Carolina was a knifemaker for almost 30 years when he passed away in 2011 at the age of 74. A member of the South Carolina Association of Knifemakers, Mr. Montjoy was highly skilled in his craft, creating a large variety of styles and types including slipjoints, interframes, hunters and fighters.
