Lot consists of: (A) One of two large fighters with both edges sharpened and original, hand rubbed finish and engraved bolsters. Knife is marked "JR Fray 2010" below the bolsters. Blade is etched with the stylized "Montjoy" mark. Fileworked and tapered full tang, pinned and dovetailed mammoth ivory handles with red liners. No sheath. CONDITION: An unused knife, there is moderate shrinkage of the ivory scales, pulling away from the liners at the bolster and butt end of the knife on the mark side. (B) The second of two large fighters with both edges sharpened and original, hand rubbed finish and engraved bolsters. Knife is marked "JR Fray 2010" below the bolsters. Blade is also etched with the stylized "Montjoy" mark. Tapered full tang, pinned and dovetailed burl wood handles with red liners. No sheath. CONDITION: An unused knife, there is moderate shrinkage of the wood scales with some minor spotting on the blade. Claude Montjoy of Clinton, South Carolina was a knifemaker for almost 30 years when he passed away in 2011 at the age of 74. A member of the South Carolina Association of Knifemakers, Mr. Montjoy was highly skilled in his craft, creating a large variety of styles and types including slipjoints, interframes, hunters and fighters.
