Lot consists of: (A) A lovely medium sized drop point hunter with its original edge, hand rubbed finish on the blade and bolsters and stylized "Montjoy" etch. The fileworked and full tapered tang is highlighted with dovetailed and pinned straight-back ivory handle scales with red liners. No sheath. CONDITION: While the knife presents as new, there is moderate handle shrinkage resulting in the ivory cracking at two pins on the mark side scale, and one pin on the reverse scale. The reverse side bolster displays some scratches. (B) A second ivory handled drop point hunter, this smaller model features its original edge, hand rubbed finish on the blade and stylized "Montjoy" etch. The engraved bolsters, drop-shaped handle with pinkie recess with fileworked and full tapered tang make this a really attractive piece. The lower edge of the bolsters are marked "JR Fray 2010". The dovetailed ivory handle scales with red liners are secured with mosaic pins along with a lined lanyard hole. No sheath. CONDITION: An unused knife. There is moderate handle shrinkage resulting in the ivory cracking at the lower pin, as well as the lanyard on the mark side, along with two small checks on the reverse side. Claude Montjoy of Clinton, South Carolina was a knifemaker for almost 30 years when he passed away in 2011 at the age of 74. A member of the South Carolina Association of Knifemakers, Mr. Montjoy was highly skilled in his craft, creating a large variety of styles and types including slipjoints, interframes, hunters and fighters.
