Lot consists of: (A) A large drop point hunter with its original edge, hand rubbed finish on the blade, stylized "Montjoy" etch and swelled bolsters. The tapered full tang is accented by polished Corby bolts securing colorful dyed and dovetailed burlwood handles with red liners. No sheath. CONDITION: The knife presents as new with slight shrinkage of the burlwood handles. (B) A medium-sized drop point hunter with its original edge, hand rubbed finish on the blade, stylized "Montjoy" etch and swelled bolsters. The tapered full tang features pinned and dovetailed light burlwood handle scales with red liners. No sheath. CONDITION: The knife presents as new with slight shrinkage of the burlwood handles with some tiny scuffs on front bolster. (C) A slightly smaller sized drop point hunter with its original edge, hand rubbed finish on the blade and stylized "Montjoy" etch. The fileworked and tapered full tang, pinned straight-back green dyed dovetailed burlwood handle scales and red liners finish out this knife. No sheath. CONDITION: The knife presents as new with moderate shrinkage of the burlwood handles, with a small flaw on rear scale. Claude Montjoy of Clinton, South Carolina was a knifemaker for almost 30 years when he passed away in 2011 at the age of 74. A member of the South Carolina Association of Knifemakers, Mr. Montjoy was highly skilled in his craft, creating a large variety of styles and types including slipjoints, interframes, hunters and fighters.
