Circa 1730-1750, the sword has a colichemarde blade. The hilt is solid silver and is marked on the front of the clam shell guard, near the blade with a "T" in a cartouche with serrated edges. The guard has pear-shaped piercing in the center on the top and bottom. The pommel has moldings on the top and bottom and there is a turned ferrule at the top and bottom of the braided silver wire wrapped grip. The quillon turns towards the right. CONDITION: Blade has been cleaned and retains a grey patina with scattered dark spotting. Hilt polished with traces of dark patina and original gilt finish. Some wear to pommel turnings and capstan shows traces of being disturbed at some time. A very early and desirable example. DMG
