Standard Type I Model 1863 Springfield musket dated 1864. Spring retained barrel bands. Has "16" stamped into the buttplate. All three barrel bands are too narrow and slide a bit back and forth between the edge of the band spring and stock. CONDITION: Gun retains a pleasing patina overall with areas of light pitting. Lock markings are clear. Barrel markings and date are no longer visible. Wood has been sanded and has handling marks. Lock has good mechanical function. Bore is dirty with strong rifling. GR
