Made for the New York State National Guard in 1872 as part of a contract for 15,000 rifles and carbines. The rifles turn up fairly regularly, however the carbine doesn't often appear. H.R.H. cartouche in ribbon on left side of the stock. High hammer spur. CONDITION: Retains a pleasing patina overall. All markings are clear. Wood has some dings and handling marks. Nice cartouche. There is a crack on the left side of the forend. Bore is fine with sharp rifling. Fine mechanical function. GR
