These were made just following the Civil War out of surplus Springfield rifled muskets. 1865 dated Springfield color case hardened lock. 1866 dated on the blued breech block. Three band. CONDITION: Lock retains some mottled case colors. Breech block retains most of the dark blue. Light patina on the barrel, bands, and buttplate. Fine mechanical function. Stock is fine with some light handling marks and minor areas of discoloration. Sharp cartouche. Has what appears to be a round wax seal on the left side of the stock between the lock screws. Fine bore with sharp rifling. GR
