The "Fitz Special", or "Fitz Colt" is a snub-nose revolver concept that was pioneered by John Henry Fitzgerald (also known as "Fitz"), an employee of Colt Firearms from 1918 to 1944. This gun left the factory in 1937 as a standard model. Replicating the Fitz custom, the barrel was shortened to 2", the front of the trigger guard was cut away, and the hammer was bobbed. They performed this on a late model with the round butt to make it more compact and sleek. It was then polished and reblued in a Colt type Royal finish. Real stag grips were fitted. All of this work was beautifully performed but all of the factory markings were polished away and .45 Colt was added to right side of barrel. CONDITION: It remains in almost 100% condition. It has a mint bore and it is obvious that the action was tuned as it is as slick as butter. A wonderful and extremely handsome custom big bore snubbie.
