One of 5,000 1841 "Mississippi Rifles" built by George Tryon of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Two brass banded rifled barrel "P" in circle proof mark. Percussion lock marked "Phila. Pa. 1848" at rear and "Tryon US" in front of hammer. Walnut wood stock with brass furniture including "US" stamped brass buttplate. CONDITION: Overall aged patina having been cleaned some time ago Lock functions but is slightly sticky. Wood is solid with illegible cartouche and various usage marks. Missing extra nipple in the patchbox. Good clean gun. From the Robert Sadler Collection.
