Rifle stamped "I. Moll" for John Moll III of Allentown, Pennsylvania who worked 1820-1883. Rifle has octagonal smoothbore barrel with rifle sights and typical double lines in front and back of each sight. Double bolt flint lock marked "London Warranted" with single trigger control and held by brass "Arrow" sideplate. Full curly maple stock with pinched triggerguard and Moll style engraved two piece patchbox. Brass flat barrel keys. Original brass tipped hardwood ramrod. CONDITION: Overall good condition with replaced lock and reconversion to flint. Wood retains 80% of original high gloss varnish with some flaking near the cheekpiece. Small chip of wood at breech of barrel. Aged patina on all metal parts with some small vise marks near breech. No visible repairs or major alterations. From the Robert Sadler Collection.
