George Tryon of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania manufactured "1841 Mississippi Rifle" dated 1848 behind percussion lock hammer. Lock marked with date at rear and "Phila" and "Tryon US" in front of hammer. Brass furniture with two barrel bands, trigger guard and buttplate with "US" stamp. Rifled musket barrel with rifle sights "N.J. STEEL" on left of breech. Barrel has "US", "SM", and "VP" proofs at breech. Walnut musket style stock with brass patchbox with extra nipple. Comes with "US" marked triangular bayonet missing sheath. CONDITION: Overall good with original patina. Some areas on barrel rubbed clean. Wood has aged finish with usage and handling marks. Mechanically sound. From the Robert Sadler Collection.
