George Tryon of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania manufactured trade type rifle made in the early 19th century. Half round half octagon smoothbore barrel with blade front sight. Barrel stamped "Tryon Philada" on top flat and some unlegible marks on the left flat. Flintlock marked "Tryon" with brass serpent style sideplate. Walnut full stock with mix of brass and iron hardware. Large loop trigger guard. Stock decorated with four silver oval inlays and a thumbpiece with a chief's image on it. Hardwood ramrod. CONDITION: Overall good with gun having been heavily cleaned. Wood has repair in forestock and has been heavily sanded with added finish. Lock is a reconversion. Barrel possibly shortened.
