1808 contract musket marked "IY" for John Young of Easton, Pennsylvania. Flint lock marked "IY" at rear of lock with turned eagle over "U.S." in front of cock. Smoothbore musket barrel with three bands and "P" in circle proof near breech. Walnut wood stock with iron furniture. Initials "WM" scratched into the right of trigger guard. CONDITION: Overall dark aged patina with some light pitting on metal parts. Wood has dark finish with a coat of old applied finish. Small crack behind tang and some usage dings and small slivers missing on the forestock. Mechanically solid. Replaced steel ramrod. Lock looks to be original. From the Robert Sadler Collection.
