This slick little slide action .44-40 was made from 1912-22 and is wildly popular with both collectors and shooters. It featured a round barrel with 2/3 magazine which was shortened from standard length, sporting sights, blue finish with walnut stock and grooved fore-end. It has the distinctive smooth magazine tube and the head of a .44 cartridge set into the left side of the frame. CONDITION: Tube shortened and hanger removed. 90% remaining blue on barrel that is now drifting. The frame is a thinning clean 85% with some minor age freckles. Rifle has a clean and strong bore and a fine action. Stocks are excellent but there is a very easily repaired light crack on right side near frame. Magazine could easily be changed to proper length.
