Superb large store display was featured in the 1914 illustrated catalog and price list for the Schoenhut company. Listed as a "Grand attraction for the Holidays". Came with sleigh and four carved reindeer. Very few were ever made due to the high price during that period. Santa figure is fully jointed and the reindeer pivot and rest on two pedestals. This sleigh is not original to the piece but very complimentary in size and scale. Some general overall wear, marks, and medium soiling. Another item similar to this was in the Rosalie Whyel Museum of Doll Art. For more details see "Schoenhut Dolls: A Collector's Encyclopedia" by Karen Corson on page 185.
