Manufactured from 1855-1857 with a total 4,021. Of standard configuration throughout, with no shoulder stock. Barrel and lock both bear 1855 date. Barrel struck with VP over an eagle's head. Single leaf folding rear sight. Stirrup ramrod. CONDITION: Barrel with medium pitting at breech. Lock with minor pitting on bolster and primer door. Eagle is worn. Maynard tape primer not functional. Hammer possibly from another pistol. Stock with a number of dents, dings, and chips, particularly pronounced on brass fore end. Stock is not cracked through the wrist, as most of these are. A split developing forward of lock plate on right side. Action works perfectly, with strong mainspring. Rifled bore in good condition. An acceptable specimen of the largest US single shot percussion martial pistols.
